Normal 02:55
Normal i’m no good at normal once the pen falls from my hand hamstrung by the shrapnel so far from what i planned i’m no good at normal best somewhere in between pulled to look beyond this life down holes that might have been it was never easy the games they seem to play i create another world that saves me every day i’m no good at normal so much seems sad and cruel i don’t sew or golf or trek but words can bring renewal i’m no good at normal i camp beyond the town waiting in the desert calm for winds to blow us down chorus i’m no good at normal i envy those who are then i trap another bolt more lightning in a jar it was never easy the games they seem to play i create another world that saves me every day

Drama 04:03
Drama she left town against my wishes spoke of plans to see the world i said love will last forever then today i finally heard we were not by then a couple crazy girl went off alone still i knew we’d be together til her friend called on the phone she was shocked when i spoke marriage we’re so far from that she said i’m exhausted from the drama i’m half afraid i’ll wind up dead no one really knows what happened seems they found her in her room she had just arrived in lisbon now they’re going to fly her home i’d been sending lovesick emails she’d not answered for a while and perhaps i’d made her frightened now we’ll never reconcile chorus stress was never easy on her one time she just passed out i was mad she wouldn’t tell me what in truth this trip’s about i stopped by to see her mother seems no one would buzz me in then i walked down by the river where the shaking could begin she was shocked when i spoke marriage we’re so far from that she said i’m exhausted from the drama i’m half afraid i’ll wind up dead

Flying Shoes 03:15
Flying Shoes god gushed forth like foals in spring and i felt raw to everything the candle flickered in the night out beyond what’s wrong and right blowing past the brides of prey those dollar garlands on display a mystery sickness digging in soon the endgame could begin blue sky good news you put on your flying shoes 2X you went dancing until dawn the pulse and beat still carry on behind the joy and fear and rage a lion chews his paper cage the bombs fell south like sudden rain then you could feel your heart again all logic scattered in the rush bass drums beating through the bush blue sky good news you put on your flying shoes 2X i have vows that i won’t break and furtive pilgrims to awake the movie skittered off the reel so much past you’ll never feel but you’ll remember when it’s done that one day we blessed everyone the cyclone and the ferris wheel a creaking pause then down we squeal blue sky good news you put on your flying shoes 2X

Pajama Boys 03:23
Pajama Boys she was not the kind of mom who made much sacrifice what she wanted mattered most no mandate to play nice she seemed an enigma who really knew her well she grew up on secrets so much she’d never tell sorrow the quintessence so many chances missed ballroom gown and perfume pajama boys she kissed big exec potential she chafed inside her role longing for a wider swath some stage effect her goal since they grew inside her no doubt she loved her boys certainly she loved her dogs her clever borgia ploys chorus you feel the tectonic shift an absence so deep down caverns buck and rumble the shimmer from the ground sorrow the quintessence so many chances missed ballroom gown and perfume pajama boys she kissed
5.
Chosen 03:05
Chosen i think that you think you know the answers to it all you will zoom so high above and never have to fall once i thought i had it made and sensed my path was clear soon i’d flap those endless wings no obstacles to fear god had clearly chosen i rose up through the crack born to full ascension then sprawling on my back wannabes grow cocky until they crash to earth many must be broken down before a second birth surely no one wants that the psychic cost too great fantasy exposed at last the wrecking ball of fate chorus but if we should recover a new voice in control now the ego backs away in service to the soul god had clearly chosen i rose up through the crack born to full ascension then sprawling on my back

And Still There’s More Goodbyes yet another leaves here not really a surprise each one takes a piece of us and still there’s more goodbyes we can seem accustomed yet fight the tearful eyes endless souls departing and still there’s more goodbyes is it best to feel the pain or best not feel at all everyone leaves everyone to heed some other call some seek greener pastures and some with new wings rise we can’t grasp the flood of change and still there’s more goodbyes we form our attachments though we know it’s unwise you sit tall and meditate and still there’s more goodbyes chorus we can’t force them present of course we recognize still it seems like we’ve been left and still there’s more goodbyes is it best to feel the pain or best not feel at all everyone leaves everyone to heed some other call
7.
Justified 02:24
Justified he had done the smart thing so what debt should he pay he adored his son and heir those bad scores in the way so he spent six figures no incidental drop all the best folks rolled like that their kids must stay on top he thinks he was justified they’ll need a forceful nudge he’ll say all the right stuff and try to grease the judge when the fbi burst in guns drawn at 4 am he was stunned and angry why would they pick on him now they’re talking jail time and his good name’s all gone he claims they want scapegoats he’s just a wealthy pawn chorus he can’t quite believe it an outrage and a sham they let slide real criminals can’t they see who i am he drinks with the winners he’s big and tan and white they see their world slipping down and now it’s time to fight he thinks he was justified they’ll need a forceful nudge he’ll say all the right stuff and try to grease the judge

Courtesy Call i thought it was my doctor when death called on the cell hey don’t soil your undies pop i know you think you’re well i just called to warn you that your time’s getting short best you take advantage the ball’s now in your court courtesy call from across the styx we’re going to cut you right out of the mix so you’d better line up your ducks in a row i just thought maybe you might want to know how’d you get this number and maybe i’m not he death laughed hard until he coughed now don’t play games with me i provide this service my reputation’s fine i don’t want some harsh review to spoil my score online chorus i could not believe it had this been even real and what was his true motive and might he make a deal courtesy call from across the styx we’re going to cut you right out of the mix so you’d better line up your ducks in a row i just thought maybe you might want to know
9.
The Blitz 04:44
The Blitz there is no way out of here i’d heard that said before not like you could fly away or simply close the door drugs or booze can do it there’s suicide i guess living in a blaze of songs you try to blot the mess still the bad guys cometh and hatred draws its gun such an endless blood lust the blitz again begun i went down to see them the armbands and old lies people seek a reason and pray slim conscience dies tired of the tension that logic can require worn out by the moral noose just longing for the fire chorus we came to this new world which soon looked like the old killing off the natives blocks where slaves got sold i had hoped to vanish before the ramparts fell now i feel the earthquakes and watch the shadow swell still the bad guys cometh and hatred draws its gun such an endless blood lust the blitz again begun
10.
Exempt 02:36
Exempt i was waiting for the hammer each of us seemed like a nail still i felt it couldn’t catch me how could this privilege fail nothing bad could ever happen to the scions of the lords we would just debate the issues not for us those waterboards like a fool who loves illusion spinning in some fantasy all the dangers i’m aware of no way they would impact me every day i read the latest seems like we might all go down but surely god will keep his eye out i would never burn or drown it’s a kind of expectation somehow i will always float it’s a kind of psychic castle still protected by what moat chorus now i see the darkness coming i still feel like i’m exempt but you should never doubt the demons or the gods of future tempt like a fool who loves illusion spinning in some fantasy all the dangers i’m aware of no way they would impact me
11.
Bite Marks 02:39
Bite Marks i live in a love song and i’ll ward off the stake i’ll make sure you rest all day until your fangs awake i’ll buy you a coffin no basic one will do we’ll go for the crypt deluxe a royal bed for you i don’t know what happened how did i come to care now i treasure bite marks i want them everywhere i’ll bring you new victims so you can gulp fresh blood someday maybe you will see til then i’m just your bud of course i will protect you no crosses will get near and you will never glimpse the sun i’d die to keep you here chorus you are such a beauty though maintenance is high thrilled to know if i screw up my scream the last goodbye i don’t know what happened how did i come to care now i treasure bite marks i want them everywhere
12.
Memoirs 04:04
Memoirs i wrote down my memoirs and some were even true but since my mind has shattered invention saw me through the world sped on without me i waved and turned away there was little left to shout no ears for what i’d say what did you find at the end of the line flowers and trinkets and beads what was the flashing that drew your eyes down that mirror caught cracked in the weeds had it all been fruitless my fool pursuits in vain did each life look just like this before the final drain concrete world too present my visions like a mist too many blows the coward heart too many times the fist chorus i had packed a sandwich i ate it in the wood how the soft light beckoned i felt i understood what did you find at the end of the line flowers and trinkets and beads what was the flashing that drew your eyes down that mirror caught cracked in the weeds
